Thank You

I am so grateful to all the citizens of the world for welcoming me into their homes and into their lives. For those that I've met while traveling, thank you for being a part of the journey and for giving my life so much meaning. And to those that have followed me from afar, thank you for caring enough to listen to my words and for giving the incredible organizations with whom I've partnered this last year the attention they deserve. Without the love and support of friends new and old, none of this would have been possible or even half as incredible, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

The Mission, the Motivation and the Madman

Who: I am a 28-year-old Canadian female, the daughter of two loving parents and the sole sibling of an equally inspiring sister. I was born in Central Canada and raised between Eastern and Western Canada and Switzerland. I attended post secondary at the University of British Columbia, graduating with a degree in Biopsychology. I have worked in the customer service, non-profit, agricultural, entertainment and health care sectors. I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, yoga and all sports. My passion is helping others and I am fueled by an endless desire to share my good fortune and the blessings life has bestowed upon me with others. My personal motto is: If you need something and I have it to give, it is yours.

What: On March 18, 2012, I said good-bye to my life in Canada and began a journey around the world, with a focus on volunteering in each country I visit. With projects ranging from literacy and enrichment to animal rescue and infrastructure, my goal is to give of myself in the ways that will be most useful in each destination.

When: Departing on March 18, 2012, the intended timeline is approximately one year.

Where: Cambodia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Tanzania, Peru and Nicaragua.

Why: It is as simple as knowing this is why I was put here on earth. My purpose in life. I seek to share my gifts with the world by helping individuals and communities in ways that directly reflect their true needs and autonomous right to live with dignity. Although I recognize the instability of a life of volunteering, this is just the beginning of my path towards making a difference in the world. My goal is to gain sufficient meaningful international experience to compliment my business knowledge and help grassroots NGOs better define and reach their own goals, working towards a world free of the suffering caused by poverty, injustice and environmental degradation.
